My name is Laurel Harrish and I specialize in on-location lifestyle photography in Philadelphia and
the surrounding areas.

My goal is to capture the subtle moments in everyday
life that make lasting memories. Whether it's the way your newborn baby's hand curls around your finger, the chaos of family snuggle-time in your bed on a Sunday morning, the celebration of a first birthday, sharing a cocktail at your favorite dive bar with your partner, or the personal details that make your small business shine,
I want to document these moments for you with the people, things and surroundings you love.

I'm a sucker for details, sentiment and loud laughter. I believe everyone has a unique story that deserves to be told in an honest and creative way.

Hello Friends.

As a child, I would beg my grandmother to look at her countless family photo albums stored on the top shelf of her closet. I adored skimming over every page and staring at all of my loved ones immortalized in those books. Even then, I knew how important these photos were to her and to the history of my family.

On my 10th birthday, she gave me my very first camera (her used Kodak Instamatic X-35 with GE magic cube flashbulbs!) and I've been hooked ever since. The need to document my memories, and now the memories of others, is as strong as any other desire I have.

My style of photography has been described as modern, vibrant, and fun. As a graphic designer, art director and illustrator, I have a passion for composition, texture, color,  lighting and the small details that make something extraordinary. I love meeting new people, learning their stories and sharing in their love. I hope to meet you soon.

Hello Friends.

LET'S GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER

A few fun facts about your photographer:

+ I'm a mom to two young daughters, one adult stepson, and a Puerto Rican rescue mutt puppy who won't stop chewing on everything we own.

+ I'm luckily married to my best friend who can always make me laugh whenever our life flies off the rails.

+ I'm originally from Ohio, but have also lived in Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi and now Pennsylvania, and multiple cities and towns within these states.

+ We discovered Philly 14 years ago and never looked back.

+ I have a BFA degree in graphic design but also studied illustration, black and white photography
and darkroom editing.

+ I've spent most of my adult life working as a graphic designer, photographer or creative director.

+ I also worked as a bartender for 10 years, so I'm really good at dealing with chaos, mixing a good drink and listening to people's problems. This has also served me well as a mom.

+ My first photography job was in 2000 when I worked as a daycare and school photographer in
Memphis, Tennessee.

+ To date, I've run 11 marathons, 26 half marathons, and various other races. I'm still hoping to qualify for the Boston Marathon one day (running fast is hard, getting old is easy), and have goals of attempting ultra trail running in the future when I have more time, which means it will probably never happen.

+ I probably had the biggest bangs in my high school. (1989-1993)

+ Before global pandemics, I loved to travel with my family. Japan and Ireland are my favorite spots.

+ The Beatles, Beastie Boys, Black Crowes, Jane's Addiction, My Morning Jacket, and Pink Floyd are my
legacy bands, but indulging in 70's soft rock, new wave and late 80's monster ballads is my not-so-secret
musical guilty pleasure.
