A Philadelphia Elopement, Rodin Museum | Abbie + Keith

When Abbie and Keith reached out about their Philadelphia elopement, I knew we were in for something special. This Oregon couple, who had recently made the City of Brotherly Love their home, decided to skip the big wedding and embrace the intimate charm of a Philly elopement. Their story is a beautiful example of how love can flourish in new surroundings and how a city can become the perfect backdrop for a couple’s most cherished moments.

From West Coast to East Coast: A Love Story

Abbie and Keith’s journey began in Oregon, where they got engaged before making the bold move to Philly for work. As they settled into their new city, the idea of a big wedding back home faded, replaced by the exciting prospect of a Philadelphia elopement that truly represented their new life together. They went down to City Hall, got the papers, made it official, then reached out to me to document their day together in a fun and personal way. I could not have been more excited to meet them.

On a warm Philadelphia morning, we kicked off their elopement session in the iconic art museum area. It was one of those typical, early summer mornings in Philly where the temperatures rose suddenly to unexpected highs. As I walked to meet them, the sun was unrelenting, and I was completely drenched by the time they arrived.

Despite the heat, Abbie and Keith’s happiness was contagious. Even in a suit, Keith’s smile never wavered. And as a bride facing her wedding photos in ridiculous weather, Abbie never worried or complained about a single thing. Armed with a bag full of waters, towels, sunglasses and genuine excitement, we began our journey down the Ben Franklin Parkway

A Morning of Art and Romance

Our first stop was the Rodin Museum, a spot that holds particular significance for the couple, as it has become their favorite place for lunchtime picnics since moving to Philly. The romantic sculptures and serene gardens provided a perfect setting for capturing the essence of their Philadelphia elopement. And since the weather was so warm, even on a weekend morning, we had the space almost to ourselves.

Vows and Views at a Philadelphia Elopement

As we explored the area, we found a secluded spot perched above the Philadelphia Museum of Art where Abbie and Keith could read their personal vows. It was a privilege to document such an intimate and genuine moment between this beautiful couple. Here they were, all alone in a strange new city, with nothing but their love, and open possibilities in front of them, embarking on this journey together. It was truly inspiring. They laughed a lot, cried a little, and danced with one another, with only the Philadelphia skyline and Schuylkill River as their witnesses.

Celebrating Philly Style

What’s a Philadelphia elopement without a nod to local culture? After their vows, Abbie and Keith celebrated their union in true Philly fashion – with pizza on the museum steps. This casual and joyful moment perfectly encapsulated their day: personal, relaxed, and infused with the spirit of their new home city.

Why Choose a Philadelphia Elopement?

Abbie and Keith’s day is a wonderful reminder that weddings come in all shapes and sizes. Their choice to celebrate their union in a way that felt true to them resulted in a day filled with genuine emotion and unforgettable memories.
