Philadelphia Engagement Photos, Manayunk – Amy + Steve

When we first moved to Philadelphia back in 2008, Manayunk was the neighborhood we called home as we spent a year exploring our new city, figuring out the lay of the land, and deciding where to plant our roots.

It was a fun year – the year before we started our family. We spent our evenings wandering Main Street, exploring the bars and restaurants, and on the weekends, running and biking the tow path and Schuylkill River trail all the way around the city and out to Valley Forge. Ahhh, so much free time before having kids.

Coming from Miami, I instantly fell in love with the huge trees, steep hills of rowhomes, charming Main Street and the industrial feel of the neighborhood. That time we lived as faux “Yunkers”, my camera never left my side, as every day, I discovered a new beauty in this Northwest pocket of Philly.

A few years later, after we moved out of the neighborhood and I started my business, I always hoped I would have clients willing to do a session there, but it never happened. That is, until Amy and Steve came along.

Amy and Steve live in Roxborough (at the top of the hill above Manayunk) and they spent a lot time walking down the hill to hang out on the weekends. They are also serious foodies who love nothing more than a good meal and a craft beer. What better way to celebrate their love and create some iconic Philadelphia engagement photos than a Main Street crawl on Saturday afternoon?

Even though it was a little drizzly, we had a great time exploring the bars, hanging out under the gorgeous blossoms and walking the tow path, which to my surprise, they had never been on. And even though this session is a couple of years ago now (I’m catching up on some serious blogging), it’s still one of my favorites.

That is of course, until next month when I get to do their newborn session! 🙂
