I had such a blast hanging out with Maureen and Vince for their 10 year anniversary photo session in Center City Philadelphia.
Maureen reached out to me almost a year prior to the session with an idea about a fun “date night” couples session to celebrate their milestone anniversary. Photo sessions to commemorate any milestone are always a fantastic idea, and I was so excited to help her plan. Maureen is a fellow lifestyle photographer, and it’s always such an honor when a another photographer reaches out to work with you. I really wanted to make her vision come to life.
Center City holds a special place in the hearts of this beautiful couple. They spent a lot of time there together before they were married, and really wanted the spirit of Philadelphia to come through in the telling of their story.
The forecast called for a pop-up thunderstorm right as we were about to start. I threw a couple of clear umbrellas in my car and hoped for the best. But, as soon as I arrived, the clouds parted and the sun came out (along with some gusty winds), just in time for our adventure around the city. We picked a general location to start – around Rittenhouse Square – and we wandered around to a few of their favorite spots, as well as a couple of quaint, old Philly blocks I had up my sleeve.
Center City Philadelphia Anniversary Photo Session
We started at The Black Sheep, a quaint and cozy Irish Bar a few blocks off of Rittenhouse. They knew a drink at one of their favorite pubs, prior to starting the session, would be a great way to relax, and also feel nostalgic for the early days of their relationship. We asked the bartender if he wouldn’t mind if I took a few photos while they enjoyed their drinks. Thanks to The Black Sheep Pub, for being super-laid back and accommodating to us.
After they finished up, we started our trek around the city. Vince was a saint as two photographers dragged him around the city for “just one more shot”. And Maureen was a trooper in that tiny dress in the freezing, windy temperatures. She marched all over the city cobblestones on those gorgeous heels without one complaint. Carrie Bradshaw would have been proud.
We stopped by City Hall, the Union League, McGillins Olde Ale House (another favorite local pub) and some of Center City’s most beautiful hidden neighborhoods. They did a lot of cuddling, laughing, kissing, and even a little dancing in the streets. It was beautiful, fun and full of life and romance. What a wonderful way to celebrate 10 years of love.
Maureen + Vince, thank you so much for such a FUN session together. It really enjoyed getting to know you both better, and learn all about the history of your love story. And I promise next time to have that drink with you!
A note of thanks from Maureen + Vince
“From the first email contact, I could tell that I picked the perfect photographer for us. She was laid back and so accommodating when it came to the vision I had in my mind…We walked around the city for close to two hours and she was so much fun to just hang with…my husband was even relaxed! We walked away from our session with so much confidence and excitement.. When she posted a sneak peak on Facebook I just about died! And by the time I received my full gallery (on time, by the way; even during the busy Fall Family photography season, when most photographers are super behind schedule), I was absolutely blown away! Her work was impeccable and she brought my vision to life effortlessly. I will for sure be booking another session with her in the future and I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer.
